  2. PLOT • Kino & his family are introduced… Kino lives with his wife, Juana and their son coyotito in a settlement of brush houses on the outskirts of La Paz. The settlement is by the river. They wake up very early in the morning. Kino goes out to watch the dawn break. Juana goes about her domestic chores-starts the preaparing of breakfast , clean the baby and breastfeeds him. All the other villagers go about their normal routine .

  3. Coyotito is attacked by a scorpian Kino and Juana see a scorpian moving slowly down the rope from which the baby’s box is hung from the roof. Before Kino can catch the scorpian, Coyotito shakes the rope and the scorpian falls on the shoulder. Coyotito is bitten. Kino catches the scorpian and smashes it into a paste while Juana tries to stuck the poison out of the sting. The baby’s screams attrack the neighbours. They, including Kino’s brother Juan Tomas and his family, all come to see what is happening.

  4. Kino and his family Juana ask for the doctor but is told that the doctor will not come to the settlement. She then decides to got to the doctor instead. The neighborhood follow Kino and his family to the doctor. Even the beggars outside the church join in. they reach the gate of the doctor’s house. Kino tells the servant that the wish to see the doctor because his son has been stung by a scorpian. The doctor through his servant ask if they have money to poar for the treatment. Kino offers his collection of worthless perals but the doctor reject it. Kino angry and hits the gate with his fist only to hurt himself in the process.
