Differences In Allele & Genotype Frequencies B/W HIV (+) & HIV (-) Djenny Batrony
Independent Variable Vs dependent Variable • Independent variable: HIV-infected individuals Vs Uninfected individuals • Dependent variable: allele frequency of particular loci or markers
B Cell Isolated From 3 Different Groups • Hemophiliac • Homosexual male • Intravenous drug user A mutation of that will cause a defect in the gene
Results • No difference in frequency or no distortion between HIV infected and HIV uninfected, except in CKR5 • Therefore, no loci are involved in the retroviral infection if there are no distortion of genotype frequencies
Results (Con’t) • According to this data, an individual who inherits same alleles is a homozygote and occurs in HIV uninfected individuals that have a dominant trait • Dominant trait is when the phenotype is expressed in only one copy
Results (Con’t) • Moreover, an individual who inherits different alleles is a heterozygote and occurs in HIV infected individuals that have a recessive trait • Recessive trait is when the phenotype is expressed in two copies
