  2. History of LMS at CPP • First time adoption of WebCT at CPP – 1999 • WebCT upgraded from v.3 to 4 – Fall 2003 • Bb6 introduced to CPP – Winter 2004 • WebCT4 and Bb6.2 ran concurrently – 2004 - 2007 • WebCT made unavailble – Summer 2007 • Bb upgraded to 7.2 – Fall 2007

CSU LMS Initiative Structure • Academic Technology Advisory Committee (ATAC) • Information Technology Advisory Committee (ITAC) • LMS Futures Group (Provosts & CIOs) • Presidential expectations to have a well-defined roadmap for Systemwide LMS strategy by June 2009 • Directors of Academic Technology Group (DAT) • Provides analysis, research, and working experience as system administrators • Assists the System-wide LMS Initiative

CSU LMS RFP Round I & II (2007-2008) • CSU LMS RFP I in Dec. 2007 – Mar. 2008 • CSU LMS RFP II in Oct. – Dec. 2008 • MEAs (Master Enabling Agreements) awarded to four LMS Vendors in March 2008 • Angel (now merged with Blackboard) • MoodleRooms • Blackboard • Desire2Learn (D2L) • All LMS documents are available at http://dat.cdl.edu (Login req.)

  5. CSU LMS Collab Pilots • Chancellor’s Office have set up pilot sites for CSU campuses to collaborate and test various LMSs: • MoodleCollab • BbCollab • AngelCollab • Webinars hosted to feature various LMS products including Blackboard 9 testing sandboxes

  6. LMS at Cal Poly Pomona • Decision to upgrade within Bb; When to do it • Upgrade to Bb8? • Upgrade to Bb9? • Stay on Bb7.2 until Bb9 matures? • Campus (Faculty, students, staff, and administrators) explore options for the future: • To stay with Bb? • To migrate to something else?

LMS Planning Task Force, April 2009 - • Charge: • Advisory group to help I&IT explore LMS options • Short-term and long-term • Membership: 9 faculty, 7 Bb support staff, 2-4 students • Recommended to upgrade Blackboard to 9 directly in Summer 2009 (Short-term) • Review LMS solutions in 2009-2010 (Long-term)

Blackboard 9 Upgrade Planning • Test environment set up (April 2009) • Vigorous internal testing by Learning staff (May 2009) • Active communication and demos for faculty (May 2009) • Summer Institute I (June session) in Bb9 Test Server • Summer Institute II (Aug. session) in Bb9 Pilot Server • SI faculty will continue to teach in Bb9 in the Fall 2009 • More faculty and students participate in Pilot in Fall 2009 & Winter 2010 • Bb7.2 and Bb9 supported concurrently in Fall 2009 & Winter 2010 • All course migration to Bb9 in time for Spring 2010 • All aboard on Bb9 on March 29, 2010!
