Mission of STTI • To support the learning, knowledge and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide.
Vision of STTI • To create a global community of nurses who lead in using knowledge, scholarship, service and learning to improve the health of the world’s people
Membership • By invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing.
Facts about STTI • 130,000 active members • In more than 85 countries • 39% of active members hold master’s or doctoral degrees; • 51% are in staff positions; • 19% are administrators or supervisors; • 18% are faculty/academics • 12% are in advanced practice
Facts about STTI • There are 486 chapters at institutions of higher education in Australia, Botswana, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, England, Ghana, Hong Kong, Japan, Kenya, Malawi, Mexico, The Netherlands, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Swaziland, Sweden, Taiwan, Tanzania, The USA, Wales
Honor Society in WA • First step – 18 months “probation” • Three universities – Curtin, ECU, UWA • Fees and all income to the Honor Society • Once become a chapter – STTI in USA sets their fees and we add a fee to allow us to operate • STTI does not have any ownership of the Chapter Funds • While Honor Society – we do not have any access to STTI.
Member Eligibility/ Honor or STTI • Students – CWA of 75+ - ½ completed – demonstrating academic integrity • Registered Nurses enrolled in postgrad programs – i.e. course work Masters – CWA of 75+ - ½ completed - demonstrating academic integrity • PhD and Research Masters students – CWA of 80+ - ¼ completed – but if no coursework then just ¼ completed - demonstrating academic integrity • Clinical Nurses – must have a bachelor degree, demonstrate achievement in nursing – guide http://www.nursingsociety.org/Membership/ApplyNow/Pages/nl_memcriteria.aspx • Nurse Academics – Level C and above
Benefits of Honor Society • Brings academics, clinicians and students together • Newsletter • At least 2 workshops/activities per year • Can become a member of STTI and Honor Society and transfer membership when we become a Chapter • Links us with SA, NSW and Qld HonorSocieities and Chapters

Managed through the Leadership Institute • Critical Portfolio – Build a portfolio using on-line platform

This will be used to notify you of chapter, regional and international volunteer opportunities • STTI speakers bureau – find or become a speaker • Serve your community – through your local chapter.
