MY CHOSEN VIDEO • The style of this video, I think , is mainly a concept as the main focus is on the accident and the two people on the pavement, however there is an element of narrative as it tells a story through the song. • I also think that the use of shadows is effective in this song as it makes it more interesting and engaging to the audience without bringing in to many other characters. • Another thing that makes the video good is the way that Adele is not central to the video how she is just an observer, which is effective as this to relates to us as an audience so she sees there relationship in the same way as we do.

Camera • The use of the high angles and birds eye view, are effective as they show you both characters dancing on the pavement which is mainly the focus on the video. • Also the establishing shot showing the car accident also helps to bring in the narrative and makes it more engaging with the audience. • The close ups in this video are also effective as they show emotions on people’s faces and extra detail which helps to create the atmosphere of the accident. • This is a birds eye view shot, there are lots of these that are involved in this video simply to make it more effective and to make the narrative clear to the audience. • Here is an example of a close up this is also effective as it not focuses on the singer but also adds emotion.

Editing techniques • The editing used in this video is effective as there is no sound apart from the singing, which gives a dream like effect which also engages the audience and makes the video a bit more interesting. • Also the cuts are smooth which gives it a calming feeling which fits in with the genre of the music.

  5. Relating to the genre • The lyrics fit in with the style of music and relate to the story through the song. Also the way that the song is both a mix of concept and narrative is typical of this type of genre as there are many other videos like it.
