  12. R&D Roadmap (TARGET AND STRATEGY) TOP 50 Univ hicOE: STRATEGY Target more on the CORs as being recognised as COE internationally. To do this, support and resources should be consolidated and focused towards productive CORs which should enhance and strengthen their position in the global research scenario. Merging of CORs should be done should it indicate that strategically it is stronger united rather and separated (eg ZEN/CTBR). CORs should focus on niche and blue-sky research rather than compete in red-ocean areas Steps should also be taken to revise performance of CORs.

In order to drive translational research through creative and innovative scholarship to increase impact and visibility for UM’s research, two-dimensional programs is proposed: • Socio-economic issues • Healthcare and well-being issues • To implement this in a tangible manner, 2 mechanisms, involving the establishment of the following is planned: • Translational Health Research Institute • Liberal Arts and Sciences Research Institute
