  10. Professionalism • You should present yourself in a neat and tidy fashion.   • Shoes should not be scruffy (sneakers, no sandals-flipflops/tevas/birks/crocs/etc). • A collared shirt is required – TUCKED IN! • Quality shorts or pants are necessary - • Cut-offs and Jeans are not suitable! • Address the teacher(s) and school personnel by using their names: • “Good morning Ms. Bailey!” “Thank you Principal Tremaine!” • Cell phones should NEVER be used!

  11. Professionalism • The teachers and school staff have been instructed to ask you to leave (which will be counted as a class absence) if you: • are late (i.e., must arrive a minimum of 15 minutes before students) • are not wearing an official AU nametag • do not have TB documentation • do not have a typed lesson plan (No LP = No Teaching = Absent) • are not dressed professionally including collared shirt, watch, sneakers, etc • Park in designated areas. • ALWAYS sign in and out YOURSELF. The administration needs to see each of you arrive and depart. • Dress as though you were expecting the school principal to observe your teaching as an interview for a job…because they might!

  12. Professionalism • Take care of the school equipment (e.g., ALWAYS put it in its proper place; do not sit on equipment; always clean the equipment after use if necessary, particularly when grass has been mowed and after wet weather). • Always try to solve your own problems before asking teachers (e.g., directions, equipment needs, lesson plan ideas). This is part of being a responsible adult and future teacher. • Be a good teaching partner and group member by helping each other, sharing, and planning for facilities/equipment. (Note: All recommendation forms ask how well you work with others.)
