Depression is definitely treatable provided that the person is given adequate care he needs from a licensed psychologist. Unfortunately, many people from various cultures view depression as an indication of weakness rather than the truth that it is a sign of imbalance. This view causes stigma when it comes to seeking medical help for emotional problems. People need to realize that depression is not something that leaves a person in just a snap of a finger. If a person with depression suffers if he decide to keep everything to himself. This can worsen a depression especially when unexpressed feelings and feeling of isolation kicks in. Treatment should never be taken for granted, if depression if left untreated, it will last longer and can even cause other illnesses. A lot of research studies confirmed that psychological treatments like psychotherapy can effectively treat depression. Also known as “talk therapy”, psychotherapy may relieve symptoms felt by a depression sufferer. It can also prevent milder depression in shifting into something worse. Past history of depression suggests that a person who has recovered from the illness are more likely to experience future episodes but there are proof that a continuous psychotherapy session lowers the possibility or recurrence.
