Introduction • I am a Follower of Christ, Husband, Father, Pastor, and Worship Leader...In that order! • I have Served two Churches on a full time Basis • Cornerstone Church of God in Defiance, OH - 5 years • Floyd Church of God in Midland, MI - 12 years • Soon to be the Lead Pastor at the North Avenue Church of God in Battle Creek, MI • How I became a worship leader

  4. Disclaimers • We are discussing Corporate Worship • I am a believer in participatory worship • I am not an expert in Music, but rather a worship Practitioner • You will not agree with all of what I say, Nor should you

  5. What is Corporate Worship • An encounter with the living God that Changes US! • Worship is all about God, and a little about us.

  6. My Core Values for Corporate Worship • Worship Leaders Are really Lead Worshippers • Worship Leaders must be Real • Lead, Don’t Perform • Do Good music No matter when or by whom, it was written. • Worship should always be User Friendly • Worship should be Uplifting or Celebrative

  7. Effective Worship Planning • Step 1 - You have to begin Somewhere • Theme • Scripture • Song • Communicate with your Senior Pastor

  8. Effective Worship Planning • Step 2 - You need to understand the parts to make the service Whole • What are the normal parts of a Worship Service? • What is the function of each part. • Does each part flow into the next part.

  9. Effective Worship Planning • Step 3 - Each Service should be the Same...Only different. • Possible items to use for variety • Music • Video • Drama (not the teenage kind!!!) • Testimonies • Interviews • Other?!?

  10. Effective Worship Planning • Step 4 - Music isn’t everything, its the only thing! (Not Really:) • Music speaks to the heart. • Singing makes you feel better. • Singing Together is an incredible picture of the Kingdom of God • What Music? • Make it flow...Drive the Train...Know your destination!
