Patients and methods • Population-based, retrospective cohort study • Italy, 1999-2006 • National AIDS Registry: Italian people (15+ years old) diagnosed with AIDS between 1999 and 2006 • 10,391 patients • Record-linkage with the Italian mortality database at the National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT): • vital status, up to December 31, 2006 3,209 deaths • death certificates underlying causes of death
Standardized Mortality Ratios* (SMR) *Sex- & age-standardized according to Italian pop (15+ years); § Only cancer types/sites with more than 5 observed deaths. Obs: observed; Exp: expected; CI: confidence interval.
