Building layout • Composed of a base floor with 3 hallways (200 meters along), center of the building is a hexagon (160 meters across) • Second floor is the same as the base floor minus a hallway.
Building network construction Explained • Fiber runs out of the networking room. • 4 pieces of fiber total. • 2 pieces of fiber travel to each hall A, and B • Once the fiber reaches the hall each piece goes into a transceiver to be turned to CAT 6 • A piece of CAT 6 feeds into an 8 port switch that feeds all of the offices in the hall • The second piece of CAT 6 goes into a 8 port switch that feeds the four labs (separate from the offices) • All computers in the labs and offices are fed with CAT 5.
