Path to War • Octavian controlled the west, including Rome • Antony allies himself with Cleopatra, pharaoh of Egypt, in the East • Allies of Octavian start a rumor that Antony wants Cleopatra to be queen of Rome • Antony’s mistake was ceding Rome to Octavian
