  1. World View Chapter 1 &2 Presented by David M. Hasz Written by Charles Colson and Nancy Pearcey

  2. World View - What is this about? • What is your world view? • Every aspect of every moment of every second should fit and line up with your worldview. Or… Your world view is wrong.

  3. Who is Right? • As we study you will see that Christianity is the only world view that can answer all the questions, meet all the demands and line up all the way along! It is the only answer to real life.

  4. Question #1 • How has failing to see Christianity as a world view crippled Christians? • WE have marginalized Christianity and made it a private religion. We have become me focused instead of changing our culture.

  5. Saving Grace V. Common Grace • Saving grace = Grace to be saved • Common grace = grace to see the world saved in spite of the fall. We are called to be agents of common grace and help sustain and renew His creation. Institutions like the family are part of this grace.

  6. Why this book? • To help Christians understand Christianity as a total worldview and a total life system. • To equip Christians to build a new Christian culture.

  7. Why the differences in the Prison? • The world view was different. • The expectations were different. • The purpose for living was different!!

  8. Why would anyone oppose Crespo?? • Their world view did not line up with his and they would have to accept his world view to agree with him. • This makes agreeing with him impossible in the face of the facts.

  9. Every Move we make!! • We are either: • A: creating a hell on earth • B: bringing down a foretaste of heaven. • WE are either advancing the rule of Satan or establishing the reign of God!

  10. What is a World View? • It is simply the sum total of our beliefs about the world, the “big picture” that directs our daily discussions and actions. • Our major task in life is to discover what is true and to live in step with it.

  11. What Three Questions must be answered? • Where did we come from and who are we? (Creation) • What has gone wrong with the world? (fall) • What can we do to fix it? (redemption)

  12. The basis for our world view is ... • God’s revelation in scripture. • Scripture is intended to be the basis for all of life.

  13. “false dichotomy” • The mistake…. • We cannot allow ourselves to see Christianity as personal salvation only! • Christianity is a way of seeing and comprehending all reality! All truth.

  14. Why is understanding Christianity so critical? • 1) It enables us to make sense of the world we live in and thus order our lives more rationally. • 2) We can understand forces hostile to our faith and thus we can defend Christianity and transform culture.

  15. Wisdom • Understanding life’s laws is what scripture calls wisdom. • To not understand the structure of creation is to be at odds with reality. This is folly. • Divorce and death for example

  16. To engage the world we must... • Understand the great ideas that compete for the minds and hearts of people. • The cultural war is not about abortion, homosexual rights, or the decline of public education. These are just skirmishes.

  17. The real battle • The real battle is a cosmic struggle between worldviews. • Between the Christian worldview and the various secular and spiritual worldviews arrayed against it.

  18. Discussion • What lights have come on as a result of reading these first two chapters? • What do you hope to get out of this book? • Does Christianity affect your every move?
