Climate Most of Russia has a continental Climate. Russia has a low amount of precipitation each year. Russia has cold long winters with brief summers.
Landforms Russia has many mountain ranges spread out through the country. The main mountain range in Russia is Caucases Mountains. Russia also has the Kara Kum Desert. Many seas surround Russia. These bodies of water include- Black Sea, Caspian Sea, Baltic Sea, Barents Sea, Kara Sea, Laptev Sea, Siberian Sea, Bering Sea, and Arctic Ocean
Biomes A biome is a large geographical area of distinctive plant and animal groups, which are adapted to that particular environment. South Russia is mainly steppe North Russia is all tundra Center Russia has a biome known as Tiaga
Rivers There are many seas surrounding Russia and many rivers that empty into these seas. The Don river empties into the Black Sea. The Volga empties into the Caspian Sea. The Northern Dvina empties into the White Sea. Western Dvina into the Baltic Sea. Pechora into the Barents Sea. Russia has more than 100,000 rivers over seven miles or more.
Oceans Russia touches the Arctic ocean to the north To the east, Russia touches the Pacific Ocean.
Lakes To the north west Russia has two lakes. Ladoga lake Onega Lake To the south east Russia has another lake called Lake Baikal
Topography Topography is the study of earths surface shape and features. Russia's Topography has the deepest river on the world. The lake is called lake Baikal and it is 2,442 ft deep. The topography of Russia resembles that of the northernmost portion of the North American continent.
Social Geography • Social geography is a branch of geography that focuses on the study of patterns and processes that shape human interaction. • The population of Russia is 141,909,279. • The population growth rate of Russia is -.467%.
Cultural Groups There are about all types of cultural groups in a country as large as Russia. All groups in Russia have equal rights. The main group in Russia is Orthodox Christianity. Other groups include Islam Buddhism Protestantism Catholicism Judaism
Tribes Many of the tribes in tundra Siberia are nomadic reindeer herders. The tribes that live in taiga Siberia are hunter gatherers. None of the tribes languages do not compare to the Russian language. There are 200,000 tribe members in 30 different tribes. Some of the larger tribes have their own republic within the Russian state. The smaller tribes are being run off by outsiders that are starting new industry.
Vernacular Regions Vernacular Region is an area that people believe to exist as a part of their cultural identity. Russian regional is very weak. Russia also has very weak historical provinces along with unofficial vernacular regions.
Agriculture Russia's largest agriculture region extends from central district all the way to European Russia. Russia has 200 million hectares of agriculture land. Of the 200 million hectares about 120 million hectares are used for row crops. Thirteen percent of crops perish over the winter due to weather related issues. Russia has a shortage of machinery because of the high cost. Most Russian farms are in debt.
Population Densities Russia has a very low population density along with many other countries in the North. The population density has been falling because of low birth rates and the population growth rate is declining. Russia has theone of the lowest population density in the world. With 22 people per square mile. 73 % of the population lives in urban areas.
Geography Ural Mountains Geography is the study of people, culture, and beliefs in relation to regional and/or physical location. Russia is the largest country and has a very diversified geography. Russia has the Ural mountains in the east and Caucasus Mountains that extend across the south. ¾ of the population live in the cities or towns of western Russia. The Geographic size of Russia is 6.6 million square miles.
Conflict Conflict are problems or opposition between people, ideas, or interests. Russia has many ethnic problems. The two opposing groups are the Russians and the Chechens. These problems occurred from a Chechen man killing a Russian man in a bar. Many problems have been rising in the past years due to this incident between the Russians and the Chechens.
Cultural Diversity Government Headquarters in Moscow Cultural Diversity is the exploration of peoples beliefs and differences Russia’s main religion is Orthodox Christianity. The government of Russia is Federal Semi Presidential democratic republic. The current president is Dmitry Medvedev.
Economics Economics are the study of values, production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. Northern Russia relies on livestock. Southern Russia produces grain. Exports have been rising a little in Russia over the past years. The imports have fallen over the last years. China does a lot of trading with Russia. Most of China’s imports from Russia are energy sources.

Citizenship Citizenship is the expectations, privileges, and limitations one has to be a member of a community both large or small. Justice in the court is equal for all citizens. The president is elected by the citizens for a six year term. Russia allows few political rights and civil liberties to its citizens.
