  2. Who’s Got Talent? Students need to split into one of four groups based on their talents: Group A) Artistic—go to back left of the room Group B) Musical—go to front left Group C) Writing/Speaking—go to back right Group D) Not sure—go to front right

  3. Who’s Got Talent? Now we need to split each of these groups in half: Group A1 & A2 Group B1 & B2 Group C1 7 C2 Group D1 & D2

Group Instructions: A1 • Group A1 will create a Political Banner for the Federalists: • Draw the name “Federalists” in large, bold letters at the top of your banner • Create a catchy slogan that announces why a Federalist should be elected president • Draw a picture or illustration of your party’s founder, Alexander Hamilton • Draw visuals illustrating 3 ways in which Americans will benefit under the leadership of a Federalist president • Put captions under each visual

Group Instructions: A2 • Group A2 will create a Political Banner for the Democratic-Republicans: • Draw the name “Republicans” in large, bold letters at the top of your banner • Create a catchy slogan that announces why a Democratic-Republican should be elected president • Draw a picture or illustration of your party’s founder, Thomas Jefferson • Draw visuals illustrating 3 ways in which Americans will benefit under the leadership of a Democratic-Republican president • Put captions under each visual

Group Instructions: B1 • Group B1 will create a political song for the Federalists: • Your song must describe the beliefs of the Federalist party and include its leaders such as Hamilton and Adams • You may choose a current day song and re-write the lyrics • You may not only sing the song, but use instruments if you’d like

Group Instructions: B2 • Group B2 will create a political song for the Democratic-Republicans: • Your song must describe the beliefs of the Federalist party and include its leaders such as Jefferson and Madison • You may choose a current day song and re-write the lyrics • You may not only sing the song, but use instruments if you’d like

Group Instructions: C1 • Group C1 will prepare and deliver keynote speech for the Dem-Reps and prepare a debate for Alexander Hamilton: • The speech will be delivered by John Adams and the debate by Alexander Hamilton. • The speech must explain the following: • a) why you disagree with the Republican beliefs • b) why you believe Washington was right in how he handled the Whiskey Rebellion • c) why you agree with how Adams handled the Alien & Sedition Acts • d) why you believe electing a Federalist would be helpful to the country • 3) You must fill in the blanks for the debate (you may use this script during the conference)

Group Instructions: C2 • Group C2 will prepare and deliver keynote speech for the Dem-Reps and prepare a debate for Thomas Jefferson: • The speech will be delivered by James Madison and the debate by Thomas Jefferson. • The speech must explain the following: • a) why you disagree with the Federalist beliefs • b) why you believe Washington was wrong in how he handled the Whiskey Rebellion • c) why you disagree with how Adams handled the Alien & Sedition Acts • d) why you believe electing a Dem-Rep would be helpful to the country • 3) You must fill in the blanks for the debate (you may use this script during the conference)

Group Instructions: D1 • Group D1 will create Political Buttons for the Federalists to wear during the conference: • Each button should include a catchy slogan for your party • Each button should have a visual to go along with the slogan • Each button should be different • You need between 5-8 buttons.

Group Instructions: D2 • Group D1 will create Political Buttons for the Democratic-Republicans to wear during the conference: • Each button should include a catchy slogan for your party • Each button should have a visual to go along with the slogan • Each button should be different • You need between 5-8 buttons.

  12. Final Instructions • You will have two full class days to prepare and practice for the conference. • Your grade will be based on accuracy and participation. You will lose 5 points off your grade every time that you are off task. • We will hold the conference on Thursday in the following order: • Welcome • Display of Buttons & Banners • Political Songs • Keynote Speeches • Party Leader Debate • HAVE FUN WITH THIS
