  2. Two Crimes to Investigate • Body found in lab removed by CSI • Bones recently unearthed by new construction were brought in for possible identification • Evidence must be collected and analyzed • Teams will work each station to ensure thorough investigation

  3. Station 1 – Anthropology/Odontology • Skeletal remains found are approximately 20 years old • In 1984 a much loathed anatomy professor disappeared without a trace • He was a 47 year old Caucasian male 5 feet 4 inches tall • Dental records are available for comparison • Could these be his remains? • In your report state evidence why or why not

  4. Station 2 – Blood spatter analysis/Blood typing • Test samples of clothing from skeletal remains for presence of blood • Run serological tests • Type 4 blood samples from scene • Type suspect samples • Was death immediate or delayed • Was weapon knife or gun

  5. Fingerprints Dust the plastic cup found on the scene for prints Transfer to transparency Use overhead projector to determine match Handwriting analyses Compare suspect samples to threatening letter found on the body Look at paper scraps found near Rockhold’s body Station 3 – Fingerprinting and Handwriting

  6. Station 4 - DNA • Run a comparison of extraneous DNA found in blood near Rockhold’s body with that of the 5 suspects

  7. Station 5 - DNA • Run a comparison of DNA found on clothing near skeletal remains with the with suspects’ DNA

  8. Report • Summarize your findings for each station citing your evidence with specific observations • Construct a theory including means, opportunity and motive as to which suspect committed each crime • Explain how the crimes are connected or why the evidence says they are not connected
