Band Camp • Auditions at colleges around the country • Athletes gather from around the world • Academy (AZ), Troopers (WY) • “Move-ins” near headquarters May/June
Touring • Travel at night after performances. • Sleep on bus, or gym floor. • Housing/facilities secured before tour. • Practice as long as schedule permits. • Then travel for next performance destination.
Championship Week • Held in Indianapolis Colts, Lucas Oil Stadium • Held week of August 7-13 in 2011 • All 23 corps compete in Quarter-finals • Top 17 go to Semi-finals • Top 12 go to the Finals • Winner based on highest score in Finals
Championship Week II • Scored out of 100 pts. • Scored based on 10 aspects. • GEM, GEV, MP, VP, among others. • I&E means individual and ensemble. • Competition for individuals to show off.
Conclusion • DCI and Marching Band is really exciting! • DCI has been called the extreme sport of marching band.
