  2. Do not be sluggish!Heb. 6:11-12 • Little movement, slow, inactive • Be fervent: • zeo: To boil with heat, be hot (Rom. 12:11) • ektenes: To stretch out, stretch forth…intently, strenuously, instantly, earnestly (1 Pet. 4:8) • energeo: “to be operative, be at work, put forth power” (Jas. 5:16)

  5. Be Fervent in PrayerJames 5:16-17; Acts 12:5 • Prayer is powerful (avails much) • Continue earnestly, Col. 4:2 • Labor fervently, Col. 4:12 • In sufferings, James 5:13-16 • Zealous endurance, Luke 18:1-8 • Never lose heart

  6. A Fervent Heat2 Peter 3:10, 12 • Future heat is reason to be holy, 3:11 • Our necessary obligation • Pain of eternal fire is incentive to be fervent in our faith, Mark 9:45-46

  7. Be FerventHebrews 6:12 • The spiritually sluggish do not inherit the promises of God! • Fervent in spirit (as servants of God) • Fervent in love (with a pure heart) • Fervent in prayer (blessings from God) • In view of the fervent heat to come!
