  2. Course outcomes • To introduce you to the fascinating world of journalism • To be able to differentiate the genres of journalism such as a news item, a news analysis and a feature • To gain skills to write some aspect of a journalistic piece

  3. Course outline • Introduce students to the basics of good writing and editing • Teach different genres of journalism such as a feature, an editorial and a news analysis • Expose students to some videos by international experts on journalism • Interact with students through blogs

  4. Assignments • Read some news items on a newspaper and write a brief crime report using the inverted pyramid structure • Write a feature about a local festival in such a way that it is light-hearted and it entertains the readers • Write a news analysis by interpreting the political scenario in your country
