  5. Designated AFSOs Usually appointed to the AERE or Mar Eng officer classification and MOC 500 series trades, whenever possible. Due to conflict of interest, it is strongly recommended that Sup Techs or MSE Ops, in charge of a Fuel Farm, not be put in the Unit AFSO or D/AFSO position

  6. 1 Cdn Air Div AFSO Responsibilities • Coordinate and monitor – AF wide • Inspect – AF wide • Advise – AF wide • Review all • Semi-annual AFSO reports • Ship Div AFSO reports • Div AFSO reports conducted by Deputy AFSOs • Report to A4 Maint • Liaise with TA - QETE

  7. 1 Wg AFSO Responsibilities • Coordinate and monitor – 1 Wg Units • Inspect – 1 Wg Units • Advise – 1 Wg Units • Gather and Review all • 1 Wg Unit Semi-annual AFSO reports • Report to 1 Cdn Air Div AFSO • Liaise with TA - QETE

  8. 12 Wg AFSO Responsibilities • Coordinate and monitor – 12 Wg Units and Ships • Inspect – Conduct 12 Wg Semi-annual Inspection • Advise – 12 Wg Units • Gather and Review all • Ship Semi-annual AFSO reports • Report to 1 Cdn Air Div AFSO • Liaise with Sea Training

  9. 12Wg Sea Training Responsibilities • Coordinate and monitor – Ships • Inspect – all Ship Div AFSO inspections • Advise – Ship AFSOs • Report to 1 Cdn Air Div AFSO • Liaise with 12 Wg AFSO

Wg AFSO Responsibilities • Maintain Quality Surveillance – Wg wide • Monitor work and safety - Wg wide • Monitor training – AGQA, AGQB, AIUI - Wg wide • Conduct Monthly Inspections – Wg wide • Maintain Records • of observations and corrective action plans • Conduct Semi-annual AFSO reports(2/yr) • Advise BTSO/W Log O/Wg LEO • Report and Liaise with 1 Cdn Air Div AFSO

Unit or Ship AFSO Responsibilities • Maintain Quality Surveillance • Monitor work and safety • Monitor training – AGQA, AGQB, AIUI, AGTN • Conduct Monthly Inspections • Ready use lockers • Maintain Records • AIG messages, MSDS sheets, etc… • Conduct semi-annual AFSO reports(2/yr) • Report and Liaise with Wg AFSO or Sea Training

Passage of Information • Wg AFSOs are to report to the 1 Cdn Air Div AFSO when: • They have an issue that requires higher HQ intervention and/or direction • They are transferred or replaced in the Wing AFSO position • They have completed their semi-annual report • They require guidance from the 1 Cdn Air Div AFSO Note: Local AFSO infrastructure, personnel or aircraft fluids issues are to be first referred to the WLogO/WCEO for resolution, not directly to the 1 Cdn Air Div AFSO.

Passage of Information It is strongly recommended that Wg AFSOs initiate a Wg AFSO Working Group whereby the AFSO, D/AFSO and CE Infrastructure Rep meet monthly to discuss the status of Aircraft Fluids Issues that are pressing and currently ongoing at the Wg/Unit level. • This informal Working Group would help to: • address the Wing/Unit’s outstanding issues; • review and address any Wg/Unit deficiencies; and • to set priorities and devise a plan of action.

  14. 6 Monthly AFSO Inspections • Due when? • 1 Oct • 1 April • Signed by AFSO and WLEO • Do units who have an into-plane contract required to submit? • Yes

  15. 1 Cdn Air Div AFSO Inspections • Div AFSO Inspections • Past – Annually - and then on a 20 month cycle with AMSET • CFTO – min every 2 years • Starting in Nov 2008 – conducted at same time as Arm’t Inspections (yearly) – however Div AFSO only every 2nd year. • WComd will receive in/out brief for both AFSO and Armament inspections
