  4. You should always be aware of bogus callers and be suspicious if you are not expecting anyone.

  5. You can use a chain across your door so you can see who is there.

  6. always ask for ID and take the time to check it properly. A genuine caller won’t mind waiting.

  7. If you make an appointment for someone to come round then you can set up a password so you know they are genuine.
