Music history. Medieval/Renaissance Era. 1300-1600. Music was mostly written for church use Pope Gregory had a specific style of music named after him. It was Gregorian chant. Children were given to the church to become priests and nuns.

It was Gregorian chant. • Children were given to the church to become priests and nuns. • Women were NOT allowed to sing in the church services. • Most music in this era had no time signatures
