Emergency Management • City of Greater Bendigo’s role • Prevention, response and recovery • Assistance to other Municipalities
Workcover • Report all injuries – no matter how minor • Report all near misses • Making a claim: • lost time injury • medical treatment only injury • Return to work
Occupational Health & Safety Our policy: • Is based on the OHS Act 2004 • Provides the structure from where our procedures are developed • COGB, as civic leaders, are expected to uphold exemplary Health and Safety standards
Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 • Statewide Legislation • Has enormous influence over our everyday lives with limited understanding within the community.
Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 2 important sections for COGB and us: Section 21 – Duty of Employers • 1) An employer must, so far is reasonably practicable, provide and maintain for employees of the employer a working environment that is safe and without risks to health.
Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 Section 25. Duties of Employees • While at work, an employee must – a) take reasonable care for his or her own health and safety; and b) take reasonable care for the health and safety of persons who may be affected by the employee’s acts or omissions at a workplace; and c) co-operate with his or her employer with respect to any action taken by the employer to comply with a requirement imposed by or under this Act or the regulations

OHS Representatives • Are available for all area’s of COGB’s operations • Current reps have all undergone the 5 day OHS Course
OHS Committee • Comprises of representatives from management and staff • Works towards ensuring that we all work in an environment that is safe. • Recommends policies and procedures. • Implements the ‘Health and Wellbeing Program’
