Have you ever been filled with excitement at the anticipation of a future event? What was it and how did it make you feel? Introduction - Anticipation
Sometimes we may have anticipated things that never come. 1. When it comes to Gods plan it will happen. (Isa 46:9-11) 2. The real problem we have is that we don't listen to God. Introduction - Are we Listening?
Isaiah 46:9-11 Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. ’ From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far- off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do. God - There is no other
Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth,so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Introduction- God is Great
55:6 Isaiah tells us to call on the Lord while he is near. God is not planning to move away from us, but we often move far from him or erect a barrier between ourselves and him. Don’t wait until you have drifted far away from God to seek him. Later in life turning to him may be far more difficult. Or God may come to judge the earth before you decide to turn to him. Seek God now, while you can, before it is too late. 55:8, 9 The people of Israel were foolish to act as if they knew what God was thinking and planning. His knowledge and wisdom are far greater than any man’s. We are foolish to try to fit God into our mold—to make his plans and purposes conform to ours. Instead, we must strive to fit into his plans. Life often demands proof. Sometimes it doesn't matter what we say people simply will not believe us unless we can provide some definite verification. That can be a good thing when what you are sharing is the most important news in the world and you have the evidence to back it up. The news I am talking about is the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. And the proof is or it could be your own personal testimony. Remember that no one can discount your own testimony, Even if someone doesn't believe in the power of Christ, they cannot refute what he has done in your life. Telling it like it is!

What we find from the above table is that the term "Kingdom of Heaven" occurs 31 times in Matthew. As to why Matthew preferred "kingdom of heaven" to "kingdom of God," the explanation has long been that Matthew, writing to specifically Jewish readers, inserted "heaven" for "God" so as not to offend the Jewish sensibilities regarding uttering the name of God or the term that describes Him. Jesus and the Apostles created an expectation of a kingdom
Nonetheless, as the above table makes it clear, if you compare the synoptic gospels -- Matthew, Mark and Luke, you will find that Matthew's "kingdom of heaven" exactly parallels Mark's and Luke's "kingdom of God." The Kingdom of Heaven is not the same thing as heaven. When the New Testament uses the phrase “the Kingdom of Heaven” it is not referring to heaven. In our text today, we see such a great example of anticipation . We see the kingdom greatly misunderstood Jesus, the son of a carpenter, educated in Nazareth, one who gained favor with men, one who was cheered and praised, would soon be mocked, scorned, and cast aside by the same ones who did the cheering. Why did the cheering Stop?
Q. Why Why did the cheering Stop?
As Jesus approached Jerusalem, there were several things that He was aware of. He knew the conditions surrounding the people, and He knew the condition of the people’s heart. The Jews found themselves under heavy Roman oppression. There were heavy taxes, restrictions, numerous executions by means of crucifixion, and Jesus knew all about those things. But He knew their heart. Why did the cheering Stop?
The Jews were in search of someone. They desired a king, a conqueror, someone to set them free. They had seen the mighty works of this man Jesus. They were witness to Him restoring sight to the blind. They saw the evidence of Him healing the lame. They heard about Him raising Lazarus from the dead. They listened to Him teach with authority. Surely, with power and authority like that, Jesus was without a doubt the one who would set them free. Why did the cheering Stop?
Today we are oppressed economically, socially, and spiritually. We have poverty, drugs, killings, disease, single parents, babies raising babies. Are we searching for someone to just set us free or are we waiting for the kingdom of God? Has our cheering stopped? Why did the cheering Stop?
