Reading Process • Linear- information flows from the text to the reader (p.43) • Recursive- information is a two way transaction between the reader and text; reader interprets, reflects questions information, and writes while reading (p.44) • Dialectical Thinking- back and fourth movements between creative & critical thoughts trying to answer questions a reader might encounter
Reading “Images” • Look closely- appeal to sight • Find the subject- particular visual subject • Understand context & genre- interpretation of image • What’s the story? • Interaction of words & pictures • Inquiry based writing & reading should begin with a sense of wonder; not “What should I say?” but “What do I think?”& “What does this mean to me?”- apply this process to your writing assignements
