  2. What is it? • Capgras Delusion is a mental illness where the person thinks that another person has been replaced by an identical imposter.

  3. How it is caused. • Capgras delusion is a very rare mental illness and little is known on how it happens. • Dementia, brain damage, Alzheimers, or caused randomly.

  4. How it can be cured. • No definite cure for it. • The illness could go away naturally, be helped with doctors, therapy, medicine, or never go away.

  5. History. • Founded by Jean Marie Joseph Capgras • First documented case was in 1923 to a woman named Madame. M who believed her husband was an double. Eventually the illness worsened. • More prevalent in woman than men.

  6. Other documented cases. • One man believed his dog and been replaced. • Another believed his shoes had been replaced. • One man would talk to his wife on the phone but, when they met in person he thought she was a duplicate. • Blind patients believe that the voices of the people are imposters.

  7. Signs of Capgras Delusion • The person suffering from Capgras Delusion will begin to act different around people they think are imposters. • On the phone they think the person is actually them but, in person they believe they’re imposters.
