Motivation-Cont.. • Motivation is the combination of : • Desire • Value • Beliefs • In order to get motivated : • Identify your values, desire and beliefs • Recognize your strength and weakness and use this information to establish realistic goals • Understand the role of personal circumstances • Realize that success is the merger of all three factors. What Motivation Is Not • It is not a personal trait ( meaning some people have it and others don’t ) • It is not a constant, can differ from situation to situation in the same person ( e.g. Reading) • Just because you are unmotivated does not mean that you are lazy, may be you haven’t found the right motivator Vanchan Vishesh

  13. Motivator’s • Intrinsic Motivators: A person’s internal desire to do something, due to such thing as interest, challenge and personal satisfaction • Extrinsic Motivators: Motivation that comes from outside the person, such as pay, bonus, and other tangible rewards Vanchan Vishesh

Motivators-Cont… • Knowing what motivates you put us in control of the activities and commitments we take on • It helps us to understand why we do things, and why we want to do things • You can be more successful by relating things to your motivators • Knowing what motivates others can help us to understand they do things, and why they want to do things. • You can motivate people by relating things to what they value and offering them relevant rewards.
