  1. TILC08 meeting (Sendai) • Plenary talks in the opening session: • Comments from ICFA (Albrecht Wagner) • Message from ALCSC (Won Namkung) • Japanese Roadmap (Atsuto Suzuki) • ILC and Future Particle Physics and Cosmology (Hitoshi Murayama) • ILC accelerator (Barry Barish) • Experimental Overview (Sakue Yamada) • As other recent workshops, this was a joint meeting of the GDE and the regional • (in this case ACFA) ILC community • Several “satellite” meetings: GDE EC, FCAL coll, LCTPC coll, SiLC, ILD • First Asian (regional) workshop that had strong international attendance • (~ 50% from the other regions)

  2. LoIs, collaboration across frameworks & concepts • International Detector Advisory Group (IDAG) now formed: S. Yamada’s talk, p4 • Recent change to LoI process (S. Yamada): rather than choosing 2 LoIs, it is • planned that LoIs will be validated by IDAG in order to have “more cooperation • than competition among the LoI groups” (exact validation procedure still to be decided) • In the physics simulation / reconstruction area, Norman Graf and Akiya Miyamoto • emphasised the need to collaborate across the software frameworks – • encouraging developments are underway, with strong involvement from the UK: • Satoru Uozumi showed first results from using PandoraPFA and LCFI Vertex with input from Jupiter full MC, using new LCIO-based interfaces to/from Asian framework • Marcel Stanitzki presented PFA performance comparisons for “SiD-ish” detector • Tomas Lastovicka showed physics results from US MC & Marlin-based reconstruction

  3. Compact Geometry Description (compact.xml) Reconstruction, Visualization, … LC Detector Full Simulation Norman Graf Items highlighted in yellow represent common standards MC Event (stdhep) Raw Event (lcio) slic Geometry (lcdd) GEANT4 lcgo (?)

  4. Diagnostic plots of event data • MCParticles, hits, clusters • Runs on different detectors • must have compact description • also need sampling fractions • Easy to use and setup • on the web at http://lcsim.org/SlicDiagWeb/ • SLAC CVS project • cvs –d :pserver:anonymous @cvs.freehep.org:/cvs/lcd co SlicDiagnostics • ./build.sh • ./bin/SlicDiagnostics [...] Diagnostic Histograms

  5. Jupiter  LCIO Akiya Miyamoto Jupiter data reconstructed with LDCFulltracking and PandoraPFA T.Yoshioka Satoru Uozumi 4 Akiya Miyamoto, KEK Sim/Rec/Opt Summary, 6-Mar-2008

  6. Analize Jupiter data by LCFIVertex Satoru Uozumi 5 Akiya Miyamoto, KEK Sim/Rec/Opt Summary, 6-Mar-2008

  7. Pandora PFA Mark Thomson + Improved functionality and compatibilities to new LDC model, … 6 Akiya Miyamoto, KEK Sim/Rec/Opt Summary, 6-Mar-2008

  8. Pandora PFA performance NOW 7 Akiya Miyamoto, KEK Sim/Rec/Opt Summary, 6-Mar-2008

  9. SiD Global Parameter Optimization Using PandoraPFA Marcel Stanitzki Dependence on B Dependence on Tracker R and Z “SiDish” detector using Mokka/Marlin framework Preliminary results of Z pole events ( uds only ) Plan to do study higher energy jets, different segmentation, etc. 9 Akiya Miyamoto, KEK Sim/Rec/Opt Summary, 6-Mar-2008

  10. Tomas Lastovicka Summary • LCFI vertex package is a mature software package used in ILD and SiD detector concepts. • Its application to 6-jet ZHH (SiD) events looks very promising • existing results on Higgs self-coupling may be improved. • It is used in sbottom analysis indirectly (so far) • Very challenging due to softness of these events • There are more analysis within the LCFI collaboration under way I have not covered in this talk (e.g. tt, stau). Thank you for attention…

  11. Positive response to LCFI physics work • Akiya Miyamoto in his summary of the simulation session mentioned the • recent progress in the reconstruction area and concluded that these • software efforts “will play a central role in [the] coming detector optimisation • and benchmark studies.” • Akiya also pointed out that “LCFI Vertex is the standard vertexing package” • Also Norman Graf in his talk on PFA, Reconstruction and Benchmarking • listed the LCFI code as one of the tools used for benchmarking the SiD detector

  12. Satellite ILD meeting • SLAC SM background samples generated using Whizard now close to final, • most problems understood, test production to start soon • New ILCSoft reference installation /afs/desy.de/group/it/ilcsoft/v01-03-02 tagged • shortly before the workshop, available on the GRID (LCG grids supporting VO ilc) • Example how to use this installation on the GRID and a list of sites where this is • currently available shown by Frank Gaede (p16) • Detector geometry to be frozen this week, followed by “full chain” software test
