Registration (1st week) • Please write the following details in the List of participants: • First column: Family Name , First name (Please write clearly – we need to read it!) • Second column: Immatriculation number • Third column: Email address (or write (“no email” ) • Fourth column: Fachrichtung in which you are studying English (it may not be your main subject): (4.3 Anglistik, or 4.6 Übersetzen & Dolmetschen (“Scheine” are dealt with differently – we need to know!)
General Information (1) • Lecture scripts + additional notes will be placed on the Web each week in Word and .pdf format.(www.coli.uni-saarland.de/~wbarry) • For reading and writing the phonetic transcription symbols (SIL Doulos IPA93), an executable file can bedownloaded from the same address. • The Final Exam will be on the last Monday of the teaching term at the normal lecture time (= 9-10.00Monday 14th July 2008) • A practice exam will be set 2 weeks earlier and will bediscussed on Monday 7th July 2008)
General Information (2) • Accompanying exercises will be given fortnightly (= every 2 weeks for American speakers ) • All exercises must be handed in as a prerequisite for taking the final exam. (i.e., credits for the course are gained by attending every lecture, completing and handing in the exercises, and passing the exam). More than two missed homeworks and/or missed classes willautomatically result in disqualification. • Exercises must be in physically written form (= on paper) and placed in the receptacle on the wall to the left of the Phonetics Institute Office door (building C7.2 - room 4.11, ) • Deadline for handing in: Thursday 18.00
Information on Practical Classes • There are practical pronunciation classes which complement the theoretical lecture and must be attended regularly. Registration for these classes are separate from the lecture! For BA students in FR 4.3 (Anglistik) they are to be taken in the semester following the completion of this theoretical course.This constraint may not apply to the students of FR 4.6.PLEASE ENQUIRE IN THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT OR IN THE DEPT. OF TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETING FOR DETAILS • The complete credits for „English Pronunciation“ are given for successful completion of both the theoretical and the practical part (written theoretical exam and practical pronunciation test). • Registration for the practical courses has to be undertaken in the respective department.The registration for the theoretical lecture does NOT book you a place in a practical class.
CLIX Registration To register under CLIX please follow these steps:* Surf to http://www.clix.uni-saarland.de* Logon with your university login and password (if you have not got one, enquire at the Computer Centre * In the menu, click on "Kurse und Inhalte", then on "Meine Studiengänge"* Navigate to the course in the catalogue * On the right, click on the shopping cart, then ask to be registered for the course * Wait for the secretary to confirm your registration After you have received the confirmation, you can find the course under "Mein Bereich", "Meine Kurse", "Belegte Kurse"
