  2. Objective I Analyze current RTI practices used throughout the district Tasks/Activities • Determine screening tools used in all schools • Determine how data is collected • Determine how often data is collected • Determine what schools do with the data

  3. Findings Across the District • Variety of universal screeners used • Variety of data collection templates/charts • Data collection frequency consistent • Use of data consistent---to drive instruction

  4. Objective II Share ISSP information throughout the district Tasks/Activities Present information via: • District Leadership Team meeting • School PLC’s • Grade Level PLC’s • Content area specific teams • Staff meetings • TAT Committee members • Professional Development

Objective III Establish Universal Screener to be used by all elementary schools grades K-3rd Tasks/Activities • Analyze Universal Screeners/CBM on the market • Determine a budget for purchase of materials • Complete an ISSP Proposal Purchase form • Present recommendations to District Leadership Team

  6. Objective IV Implement District Wide 3 Tier KSI Model Tasks/Activities • Update TAT Manual procedures/forms/templates • Train staff on roles, responsibilities, & data collection procedures

HURDLES • Consensus on district wide universal screener for reading, math, & writing • Developing district wide TIER of interventions • Establishing building KSI coordinators/interventionist @ each school • Collecting/Analyzing data • Revising TAT Manual • Staff training • Support & commitment from all schools to: • Use recommended universal screener • Scheduling time for interventions • Budget funds to sustain project

SOLUTIONS • AIMSweb district wide universal screener • District wide TIER of interventions developed through Leadership Team • Appointing/hiring staff as building KSI coordinators @ each school • Developed district wide CBM probes/assessments • Revised TAT manual • Staff training/Professional Development scheduled for July 2009 (Elementary/Middle & High School)

  9. CHALLENGES • Variety of researched based intervention strategies for math & writing • Scheduling time for Tier 2 & 3 interventions to be effective • Time, Time, Time

  10. Critical Pieces in Developing a Tiered Intervention Program District Perspective • Belief all kids can learn • Wanting to do what’s best for all students • Researching what’s working in other districts/states • Providing funding/opportunity/training
