Situation (S) • During University I had a part time job and was required to manage my time between school and my job • I needed to come up with a way to balance my time and not fall behind
Action (A) • I created a schedule with work and school and wrote down what will be done each day and my goals for the week.
Result (R) • This schedule allowed me to keep up with all my work without getting behind. • I managed my time very well and was able to stay focused.
Situation (S) • I was a camp counselor for a few summers and I had campers of the age of 7 and 8 one summer. Most kids would cry every single night because they were homesick and didn’t want to be at camp.
Action (A) • I promised to do their favourite activities during the day so they have something to look forward to • I also decided to organize special activities for the kids every single night
Result (R) • All the kids were so focused on the games that they were too distracted to be home sick. • The kids were much happier as they were distracted and not thinking about home.
Situation (S) • My summer internship working for a fashion magazine had a few interns working for them but no meetings throughout the program to get feedback and suggestions.
Action (A) • I spoke to the editor-in-chief of the magazine and suggested a meeting each week to get together with all the interns and herself as well as a few other magazine contributors. • I showed my leadership skills by taking the initiative and suggesting this idea
Result (R) • By organizing this meeting each week it allowed all the interns to discuss their work and have an opportunity to ask questions and get feedback for all the work that was being done in the office.
