  7. Their Causes Were Many • Reforms in business, politics, education, labor, sanitation, social status distinctions, and living conditions • Trust-busting • Destruction of the urban political machines • Temperance • Unions • Immigrants • Food and drugs • Housing, sewers, and conservation
