Revolutionary War By: Amy, Rebecca, Aaron, and Olivia
Just a little facts.. The Revolutionary War was a very large war in America. It started on April 19, 1775. North American colonists and the British Army fought each other for a piece of land that was rich in raw materials and economic opportunities. The colonists were also fighting for political freedom from British rule. This is what led up to be called the Revolutionary War.
Facts.. • George Washington was the commander in chief of the army. He played a critical role in most battles of the Revolutionary War. • British Army was supported by German mercenaries.
Different Perspectives.. • We are going to teach you about the different perspectives of .. • -soldiers • -children • -women • -nurses
Facts about the soldiers: • Had small weapons, cannons, swords, rifles, and bayonets.
Perspective of soldiers: • Whether it was a slave or just a colonist, they both wanted freedom. • The slaves sometimes got freedom if they fought in the war, so that was a motivation for them. • Most soldiers were minute-men.
Facts about the children: • Had to work all the time on a farm because the people had to feed the soldiers. • Children were very mature. • Children were part of a big family which caused money problems. • Expected to do their chores without parent having to tell them.
Perspective of the children • Perspective- Mature. • - Things were hard during the war but they stayed strong. • They would change their identity just so they could fight. • Help out the parents and relatives. • Taught and trained their self to do good in school and have a good education.
Facts about the Women in the Revolutionary War • Very responsible. • Cooked, cleaned, fired cannons, etc.
The women’s perspective.. • Perspective- proactive. • Reasons why: • - The women just did not sit at home all day, they were very busy. • They fought just as much as the men did. • They shot cannons continuously. • The womens jobs as nurses weren’t demaned. They liked their job and were willing to do it.
Facts about the nurses: • -weren’t a lot of nurses so they always put ads in the newspapers. • They were cerified because George Washington thought that the soldiers worked so hard on the battlefield, they needed the correct care and attention on the battlefield when they got hurt or injured. • Nurses dressed very nice out in public so it would persuade people to join the nurses academy.
Perspective of the nurses: • Perspective: Desperate. • Reasons why: • -They really really needed more nurses to help them out when someone got injured. But, George Washington did not find enough. So they were constantly treating patients and were constantly busy because of the low amount of soldiers.

Technology. • Back in the old days, their technology wasn’t so hot. The citizens of this area did not have half of the technology that we have today. Such as.. Camera/photography Telephone Internet Television
Communication • Communication varied back in the olden days. There were no airplanes to get around. They mainly communicated between letters and newspapers. In their letters, they would use codes for different meanings. The newspapers started in 1704 with the Boston News-Letter. Newspapers as well as letters traveled very slowly.
