In stage six of SSM, I drew upon the previous stages in making recommendations for possible solutions: • Development of specialist SAFA training to meet the Learning and Development needs of practitioners and managers, to enhance investigating skills and understanding of key responsibilities and legislation • IT strategy to support integrated SAFA processes; Increase efficiency, eradicate inconsistencies of methods and improve standard of recording by providing a uniform process which will improve data quality, performance and quality monitoring and increase management oversight • Revision of supervision policy to integrate Safeguarding Adults & Children. SAFA is placed as a high priority for all staff to ensure that staff are given support to assist them in using information to make evidence-based decisions • Safeguarding Adults & Children statement part of new job descriptions and contracts • Joining Safeguarding Adults & Children under one management structure to maximise on the synergies between Adult and Children's safeguarding • Building on these synergies to form the Safeguarding Adults & Children Strategic Group • An expert by experience and carer are part of the Risk Management and Patient Safety Group and the Practice Leads group are exploring expert by experience membership of the group
Role of Safeguarding Adults Manager & Practice Development Practitioner • To provide Leadership in Safeguarding Adults with HPFT • To develop and support robust systems to monitor and performance manage safeguarding adults activity • To improve the quality of safeguarding adults practice • Support and enable investigating teams and managers • To ensure that policy and practice promote good practice and new Legislation and policy updates are shared
