Overview • This course will cover various fields of Community Medicine. • Community Medicine & Public health Health of the population
Main Fields 1- Basic epidemiology. 2- Methods of Research. 3- Demography. 4- Epidemiology of infectious diseases. 5- Chronic diseases epidemiology 6- Health education. 7- Mental health. 8- Mother child health. 9- Environmental and occupational health.
Learning outcomes 1-Understand the process of infectious diseases transmission. 2-Understand the procedures for disease prevention and control. 3-Identify major health problems in KSA. 4- Acquire knowledge and skills required for methods of biomedical research. 5- Analyze biomedical data and present results. 6- Know the principles of preventive methods.
Cognitive skills 1- The ability to predict trends of disease in the community. 2-The ability to calculate rates and indicators and use then to quantify health problems. 3-The ability to develop a research proposal.
Lectures • TWO lectures weekly throughout the year.
Attendance • Attendance of lectures is mandatory. • Attendance will be checked at each lecture and absenteeism will be dealt according to university regulations.
Evaluation 1-First continuous assessment test (CAT-1) 25 % 2- Second continuous assessment test (CAT-2) 25 % 3- Quizzes 10 % 4- Final Examination 40 %
Quizzes will be randomly assigned during lectures. • Lecture notes will be delivered. They are essential, but not sufficient.
