This Year Robertson County School District is in Corrective Action Students With Disabilities Hispanics Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Economically Disadvantaged
How can a district be in Corrective Action? The district is held responsible for each student that is non-proficient. Subgroups are important! Each student counts.
LEA Corrective Action State may do one or more of the following • SDE Approve Systems Allocation of Resources • State Review and Monitor TCSPP • Parent Notification • Performance Contracts for all Principals • Provide Remediation and Supplemental Services
State Sanctions (Added June 2007) Implement Corrective Action (at least 1 of the following) • Replace or reassign staff • New research based curriculum • Significantly decrease management authority at the school • Appoint outside management or instructional consultants • Reorganize internal management structure
Parent Notification and Dissemination Technical Assistance SDE shall take at least one of the following corrective actions: -Deferring programmatic funds or reducing administrative funds -New curriculum -Replace LEA personnel relevant to failure -Remove particular schools from LEA jurisdiction -Appoint receiver/trustee -Abolish/restructure LEA -Public LEA Choice NCLB State may do one or more of the following

Don’t Dump on the District • Each school must have a 10% reduction in students who are non-proficient for each subgroup. OR Achieve 93% Proficiency for each subgroup. (which ever comes first)
Teamwork Everybody working toward the same goal. Each subgroup 93% proficient First Step: Each school have a goal of 15% reduction in students who are non- proficient for each subgroup.
As a Team We can -reverse the current pattern -change the culture in RCS -maintain our autonomy -remain independent without interventions from the SDE
As we work to change the Culture • Data must be the driving force. • Every principal should collect data to determine the impact on student achievement: -walkthroughs -lesson plans -instructional strategies -pacing/mastery guides/standards -writing across the curriculum -teacher collaborations
We’re all in this together. Supervisors are expected to be visible in your school and to assist you in using your data to improve student achievement. Data must be the driving force for school improvement. Data got us on the high priority list and use of data will get us off. Teamwork is the Key
This year will determine whether we: • want to remain an autonomous school district • can work together as a team to achieve our goal • can reverse the pattern and change the culture
As a part of the team and to preserve this District Our Mantra Must Be: Failure is not an option.

The Challenge to ALL: • Expect Success from yourself, your teachers and from your students. • Carry your part of the load to the finish line with a 15% reduction of non-proficient students in each subgroup. • Work together as a team—principals to principals, principals to teachers, and principals and supervisors to achieve our goal--
