  1. ANDREW CLEMENTS Andrew Clements was a teacher for seven years after college. He started getting into kids books by creating illustrations for other writers, and eventually, by writing his own stories. Clements’ first book was Frindle, a story about a 5th grade boy who decides to invent new words, just for fun. Unfortunately, Nick’s teacher is a fanatic about the dictionary. She doesn’t think Nick’s plan is funny at all…but it’s too late. The class, the school, even the town is now learning about the power of words and where they come from. Frindle won LOTS of awards and is available in over 10 different languages!

  2. ANDREW CLEMENTS Most of Clements’ books are Realistic Fiction. They follow regular, everyday kids doing regular, everyday things. But Clements also manages to weave in lots of humor… In No Talking, it’s a battle between the noisy 5th grade boys and the equally loud 5th grade girls. Who can go the longest AT SCHOOL without talking? Can silence be exciting? Even dangerous? You’ll have to find out! Lunch Money follows the exploits of Greg, a 6th grader with a knack for turning everything into a money-making venture. When Greg teams up with his sworn rival, Maura, to devise the ultimate plan, what will happen to his profits?

  3. ANDREW CLEMENTS When twins Jay and Ray Grayson move to a new town, they decide to take advantage of a paperwork glitch. Seems the school thinks there is only ONE Grayson boy! But their different talents keep tripping them up, and Jay and Ray learn that even though they are twins, they are VERY different people! Read Lost and Found to find out more… Life is easy for 6th grader Hart Evans, until his music teacher is laid off and puts him in charge of The Holiday Concert. This is a tale with several different viewpoints and lots of laughs! Can Hart pull off the impossible and put on a good show?

  4. ANDREW CLEMENTS This series follows the life and times of Jake Drake, a 4th grader who knows his way around the school. Follow Jake’s adventures as he deals with the school bully, hams it up to win the title of class clown, and strives to win the school science fair.

  5. ANDREW CLEMENTS Some other titles from Andrew Clements that you might enjoy: In A Week in the Woods, the 5th grade camping trip tests Mark’s survival skills and his ability to get along with a teacher who seems out to get him. Twelve-year-old Natalie writes a wonderful novel and tries to devise a way to get The School Story published. Budding journalist Cara writes a post about her burned-out teacher in The Landry News. Will the article get him fired? Fifth grader Jack becomes the object of ridicule when the other kids at school find out that he is The Janitor’s Boy.
