  3. Stunt / Blitz Philosophy • Have the ability to bring any individual from any position on the field • We use both run & pass blitzes ( most go with our DL stunts) • We can turn loose 1,2, and 3 players in addition to our front • We will blitz and stunt to utilize our strengths and expose opponents weaknesses

  4. Stunt/Blitz Terminology • Each Gap has a designated name • Each D – lineman has a designated movement • Each LB/DB stunt will use their position names along with the gap name Cloud Bear Arrow Ammo Bull *Outside stunts will come with tite or split DL movement unless we are using secondary stunts to bring 2 players from outside.

  5. Defensive Line Stunts Gap Exchange Stunts: • 1to 2 man stunt • Used with backer/secondary stunt to bracket OL and open gaps for the stunt Slant / Angle Stunts: • 1to 4 man stunt • Players will start head up OL moving toward strength or weakness of formation Loop Stunts: • 2 to 4 man stunt • Drive man wants to drive his OL to open gap for loop man

  25. ZONE PRESSURES A CONCEPT DESIGNED TO PUT PRESSURE ON THE OPPONENTS PASSING GAME THAT INVOLVES RUSHING, STUNTING, BLITZING 4, 5 OR 6 DEFENDERS WHILE STILL MAINTAINING ZONE COVERAGE PRINCIPLES WITH THE REAMINING DEFENDERS. IT ENABLES US TO “GET AFTER OPPOSING QUARTBACKS” WITH VARIOUS PRESSURES WITHOUT THE RISK AND POTENTIAL PROBLEMS THAT PURE MAN COVERAGE CAN CREATE!

  26. ADVANTEGES OF ZONE PRESSURE • Element of surprise – Offensive line does not know who is coming or going • Safe Pressure – Eliminate Match up problems by not being in man coverage • Good vs. Rub/Pick routes • If QB scrambles, man coverage does not pose a problem • Great on 3rd and 10+ yardage situations • Aggressive mentally • Big play potential – sacks, turnovers • This zone pressure scheme will be used with and without dropping DL in coverage and using HOT coverages to replace stunting LB’s

  27. ZONE PRESSURE TERMINOLOGY • Cop out: • Technique used to engage and occupy OL by DL and then dropping into zone coverage during stunt • Zone weak / Zone Strong: • Term used in play calling to drop strong or weak side end into zone coverage • Zipper: • Term used in play calling to drop both strong and weak side ends into zone coverage • Ernie: • Term used in play calling to drop strong side end and nose tackle into zone coverage • Taco: • Term used in play calling to drop both DTs into zone coverage
