  3. Exploratory / Experimental Research Grant Scheme (ERGS) • Research must address the following questions: WHAT? WHERE? • Can stand alone – no need for collaborative effort. • Can include screening and epidemiological studies

  4. Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) • Research that produces new theory, concept and ideas. • Answers the “WHY?” and “HOW?”

  5. Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) • Examples: • Mechanism Of Vascular Endothelial Leakage In Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever • Investigation Of Bacterial Survival Mechanisms In Extreme Environment: A Comparative Genome Wide Expression Studies.
