  1. Succession A community change in which new population of organisms replace existing ones

  2. What causes succession? • Fires • Mining • Agriculture • Logging • Catastrophic events (floods, earthquakes, volcanic activity etc.) The first 4 bullets above are examples of Secondary succession, the 5th, primary succession

  3. Secondary succession • Has established soils. This is not the case with primary succession.
