  2. Summer Reading Prompt 1. The great American dream is that people can rise from obscurity to greatness with hard work and talent. In Malcolm Gladwell’sOutliers, the American Dream is more of a myth. According to Gladwell, success is not only about working hard, but it is also about being at the right place at the right time and having the will to work hard. Refute or defend the previous statement using details from the text.

American architect Frank Lloyd Wright once said, “I know the price of success: dedication, hard work, and a devotion to the things you want to see happen.” Based on your reading and study of Malcolm Gladwell’sOutliers, do you agree with Wright’s prescription for success?
