  2. To ask how old someone is… • Say “Quel âge as-tu?” when speaking to someone you know, or someone your age (INFORMAL) • Say “Quel âge avez-vous?” when speaking to an adult (e.g. teacher) or someone you don’t know (FORMAL) • Sounds like: • [Kelaj ah too]

  3. To respond with your age… • Say “J’ai # ans”. • Par exemple: • J’ai treize ans • I am thirteen years old • J’ai quinze ans • I am fifteen years old

  4. To inquire about someone else’s age… • You would ask a boy: • Quel âge a-t-il? • How old is he? • You would ask a girl: • Quel âge a-t-elle? • How old is she? • The “il” and “elle” determines if you’re referring to a boy or a girl

  5. Quel âge a-t-il? • This is Justin Bieber, a singer • He is 18 years old, therefore in French, we would say… • Il a dix-huitans

  6. Quel âge a-t-elle? • This is Willow Smith, singer & daughter of Will Smith • She is 11 years old • Elle a onzeans
