  3. Extreme poverty cannot be reduced to an economic measurement ATDFOURTH WORLD denounces the injustice, powerlessness, shame, humiliation and social exclusion experienced by those living in extreme poverty They are the ones first subject to having their human rights violated

Striving together to end Extreme Poverty Our Vision A harmonious society free from extreme poverty Our Mission To bridge the gap between families living in poverty and mainstream society and foster effective participation of all to break down chronic poverty Our Goals • To stand in solidarity with people living in poverty • To broaden their access to knowledge, culture and education with the view to ensure their fundamental human rights • To inform and mobilize citizens, civil society, authorities and institutions towards these goals

Striving together to end Extreme Poverty Through… Over 100,000 members worldwide 400 international Volunteers working full time around the world in 30 countries In Thailand:university professors, teachers, program coordinators, consultants, international organization officers, human rights defenders, retired teachers, interpreters, business men, artists, students, etc... arevolunteering their time and talents 5 international full time Volunteers in Thailand: They are Filipino, French, and Thai

Striving together to end Extreme Poverty Our main achievements • 30 years of commitment in communities living in depressed areas of Bangkok Knowledge and trust gained through long-term relationship with the families Activities promoting “art & culture” to children Discussion forums with adults on issues that matter to their lives Opening of the About 100 families are attending ATD programs each year

Striving together to end Extreme Poverty Recent highlights • Opened the community center at Thon Buri District, directed by a committee made up of local residents of the communities • Filmed a video about human rights overseen by members of the community with UNESCO and friends of ATD in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights • Creation of a video clip with the children living in the communities for the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (Tapori campaign)‏ • Initiate skills training project with teenagers living in the communities (e.g. silk-screen t-shirt printmaking)

  14. Striving together to end Extreme Poverty • Main emphasis for the next two years: • Involve cultural, educational and vocational partners in enriching activities at the community centre • Gain the participation of new members in ATD FW action and Friends of ATD Foundation T
