DISCUSSION OBJECTIVES • Describe the development process for the Vision-Mission-Values Statements • Share the Strategic Planning Committee’s thoughts on why this matters • Discuss how the Vision-Mission-Values Statements apply to our daily work and answer questions
THE CHARGE OF THE STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE Develop a strategic vision of the future that describes the value Columbus State will deliver to its stakeholders (faculty, staff, administrators, students, alumni, Central Ohio educators, employers and leaders) Review and refine the College’s statements of mission and values in light of that strategic vision

WHY THE STATEMENTS MATTER “Vision-Mission-Values are to institutions what CHARACTER is to individuals!” Our new Statements: • Speak directly to the culture we want to embody • Provide a common language about who we are • Frame our strategic direction and decision-making
NEXT STEPS • Board of Trustees - Review and Approval (November 2012) • Development of Strategic Goals and Objectives, focusing on three areas: • Student Success - Achieving the Dream Framework • Workforce Development – Focus Group (registration now open) • Community Engagement – Focus Group (registration now open)
