  2. What do you know about geography? Which country…? • Is the most popular country to visit • Has the greatest number of stores in the world • Has the longest coastline of any country on earth • Is the smallest and largest country

  3. Listening • Listen and practice. • Listen to the rest of the conversation. How many questions did Wendy get right?

  4. Comparatives and Superlatives Comparatives= When you are comparing two things, usually end with –er Which country is larger, Canada or China? Canada is larger than China.

  5. Comparatives= More Examples While most comparatives end in –er, there are some exceptions: When there are more than two syllables, you have to say “more” Examples: More beautiful, more famous

  6. Superlatives Superlatives= When you are comparing more than two things at the same time. Which city has the largest population: Tokyo, Mexico City, or Sao Paulo? Tokyo has the largest population of the three.

  7. More Examples of Superlatives Like comparatives, if the word has more than two syllables, you need to add “the most” Example: What is the most beautiful mountain in the world? I think Mount Fuji is the most beautiful.

  8. Examples Long -> Longer-> Longest Dry-> Drier-> Driest Big-> Bigger-> Biggest Famous-> More famous-> The most famous Beautiful-> More beautiful ->The most beautiful Good-> Better-> The best Bad-> Worse-> The worst

  15. Questions with how “How” is used to to ask a descriptive question Examples: How far is South Korea from Russia? How big is Singapore? How high is Mount Cook? How deep is the Grand Canyon?

  16. Practice Think of five questions with how about places in Korea or other countries you know. With a partner, practice and answer these questions.

  17. What’s the Question? Think of three statements that can be answered with how questions or WH-questions with comparatives or superlatives. Examples: • It’s about four kilometers from my house to the school. • The Pacific Ocean is bigger than the Atlantic Ocean. • Suzanne is the best dancer in the class.
