TA CRthe objectives • Organizational unit of the state and an administrator of a state budget chapter with the effect from 1st July 2009 • Is based on the amendment to the Act No. 130/2002 Coll. (Act on support of R&D) • Is a tool for the implementation of a reform of R&D • To reduce a number of state budget chapters • To simplify the administration of the R&D • To support the AR, ED and innovation in the CR • To support the cooperation and communication between research organizations and the private sector • To contribute to increasing the competitiveness and the economic growth of the CR Czech Technology Days at GT, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, May 29-30, 2014
TA CR ongoing programmes supporting R&D in chemistry ALPHA - Searching for “smart solutions“ in areas of progressive technologies, sustainable transportation and protection of the environment; Competence Centers – large collaborative projects where research organizations are working together with companies on a dedicated research agenda EPSILON – replaces programme ALPHA and the field of chemistry is also supported, 1st call in May 2014 Czech Technology Days at GT, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, May 29-30, 2014
TA CRprogramme DELTA DELTA – programme for the support of international R&D projects of Czech enterprises and research organizations with their partners outside of the EU • Prerequisite to have a partner agency in the respective country • -> TA CR has good relations to NSF • -> Czech-USA R&D projects can be supported through the DELTA programme - 1st call - June 9-th 2014 Czech Technology Days at GT, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, May 29-30, 2014

Project example 1 - CC Flexible printed microelectronics based on organic or hybrid materials • The project aim is the design of imprinted functional electronic systems on flexible substrates and their application by hybrid printing techniques. • Partnership: Centrum organické chemie, UP– Pardubice, ZČU - Plzeň, & 4 otherCompanies • Duration: 2012 – 2019 • TotalExpenditure: 167 200 000 CZK (incl. National Support: 117 000 000 CZK) • ShortIntroduction: The research and application centre is aimed at research of materials and hybrid technologies for functional printed electronic systems on flexible substrates based on the combination of metallic nanoimprinted nanostructures and functional electronic and sensory elements by rotary printing methods. Applications will be aimed at a low-cost printed flexible electronics particularly for smart packaging, smart textiles and holographic safety elements. Czech Technology Days at GT, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, May 29-30, 2014
Project example 2 - CC Biorefinery Research Centre of Competence • Create an interdisciplinary center with high innovation potential for sustainable utilization of renewable sources, and bring the Czech Republic to the leading position in next generation biorefinery • Partnership: Ústav chemických procesů AV ČR, VŠCHT - Praha, & 5 otherCompanies • Duration: 2012 - 2019 • TotalExpenditure: 335 900 000 CZK (incl. National Support: 233 320 000 CZK) • ShortIntroduction: The project addresses the problem of biomass utilization employing the techniques of green chemistry to the high added-value products and energy sources. From the biomass of microbial, plant or animal origin one can by refining obtain food supplements, fodder and fertilizers, biofuel of new generation and energy. Biorefining is a unique way of new sustainable solution of substitution of fossil fuels minimizing adverse effect on the environment while making use of the whole volume of biomass. DELTA– basic information • “Programme for the support of AR and ED through joint projects of technology and innovation agencies“ • Support of joint projects of enterprises and ROs supported by TA CR and leading foreign technology and innovation (or similar) agencies with which, by the time of the call for proposals, TA CR has/will have initiated a cooperation • cooperation with NSF and next institutions Czech Technology Days at GT, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, May 29-30, 2014
DELTA- basic information II • Programme is not thematically focused; • Topics of joint projects will be set ad hoc • Areas, in which projects will be accepted, may differ not only per each partner agency, but also per each call for proposals; • The aim of the programme is: • To increase number of real R&D outputs in areas for which there is a consent of both TA CR and foreign partner, • which will be successfully embodied in the practice and thus will contribute to the competitiveness of the Czech Republic – doing this by supporting bilateral or multilateral cooperation. Czech Technology Days at GT, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, May 29-30, 2014
DELTA– basic information III • Programme duration is 6 years - 2014 to 2019, • Call for proposals: • Max. 4 times per year (1st in 2014, then in 2015 and 2016, in case there would be enough resources, also in 2017); • Published for projects solved in cooperation with one or more partner agencies; • Project duration max. 3 years; • Maximum support for Czech participants 25 million CZK per project; • Non-European states are the priority. • Supposed number of supported projects yearly – 10 projects! Czech Technology Days at GT, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, May 29-30, 2014
DELTA- basic characteristics • Not a classic program - requires: • Active creation of conditions for a successful implementation of the programme – maximal facilitation of a match-making of Czech and foreign institutions, otherwise there will not be enough projects applying. • As flexible conditions as possible. • Need for securing a service for a IPR protection – TA CR will be an active partner for the beneficiaries.
