Cost of Dental School According to the American Dental Association first-year resident dental students, average tuition and fees rose by more than 50% from 2001 to 2011. Overall, the first-year tuition at public schools increased from $10,642 to $25,618 (141%); private schools increased from $25,618 to $52,697 (70%). Also the ADA reports the average four-year dental school total costs from 2001 to 2010 for resident students at private schools increased 66.5% from $141,123 to $234,992. At public schools the resident costs rose 122% from $62,239 to $138,174.

What Does the Scholarship Pay For? • 100% TUITION • $20,000 Sign on Bonus • BOOKS, FEES, AND MEDICAL SCHOOL EXPENSES • MONTHLY STIPEND • ~$2,200 PER MONTH FOR 10 1/2 MONTHS • ARMY OFFICER PAY • 2LT PAY FOR REMAINING 45 DAYS
ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE OBLIGATION • One year for each year you receive HPSP (minimum of 3 years). • Obligation starts after Dental School. • COMISSION AS AN ARMY OFFICER. • Commission as a 2LT in the United States Army Dental Corps during the duration of Dental School. • FULL-TIME STUDENT • You are expected to be a full-time Dental student.

Specialty Pay • If dental officer has specialized and completed ADSO – at 6 years pay may be: • 5330.40 (O-4 monthly pay) = $63964.80 • $223.04 (BAS) = $2676.48 • $1700 (average BAH) = $20400 • $7000 (VSP – everyone) • $12000(DASP – everyone – yearly contract) • $2500 (BSP – board certified specialists only) • $50000 (multi-year retention – specialists only) • Total $158,541 annual income
