  1. Mahanoy Area High School Summer Reading 2013 Requirements Importance of Reading Votech Students English 9 English 10 English 11 English 12 AP Lit and LCCC (click on the class you will be taking for 2013-2014)

Importance of Reading • According to research, reading helps to improve a student’s overall academic performance both in life and in school. • The act of reading, no matter how difficult the material may be, provides a means of enrichment that is much needed in our society. • Mahanoy Area will participate in summer reading to help both the students and the society.

  3. Requirements • All high school students (including Votech students) must read two novels. • During the first two weeks of school, all students will receive an assessment over the novel(s). • Books will be available to check out in the high school office, the public library, or from the classroom teacher. If desired, books can also be purchased at a store or through the Nook or Kindle for your own personal use.

  4. Votech Students • All Votech students are required to read the summer selections. • Click on your grade level to see what novels are required. English 10 English 11 English 12
