  1. Ambient IntelligenceAnd Ubiquitous computing to make the environment sensitive and responsive. ShubhamKumarTiwari 1336310082

  2. Contents • Introduction • Overview • Vision • Technologies • Goal • Application • Role of ubiquitous computing • Ubiquitous devices • Conclusions

  3. AmbientIntelligence-Introduction • Ambient Intelligence refers to “Electronic Environments that are sensitive and responsive to the presenceof people”. • Ambient intelligence(AmI) is the vision of a technology that will become invisibly embedded in our natural surroundings, present whenever we need it, enabled by simple and effortless interactions

  4. ExampleScenarios • Objects with memory • Objects that act as medium for messaging • Objects that can tell you their relevant action • Eg . Medicine / Morning Alam • Augmented physical environments • Walking around town, system points out buildings/places of particular interest to a user (based on user’s interests) • Books on a bookshelf can “speak out” to you

  5. AnOverview • Is like a mater piece of technology • It refer to electronic environment that are sensitive and responsive to the presence of people • Embedded networked devices are integrated into the environment, that form the core basic of Ambient intelligence

  6. AnOverview • Adaptive intelligence is a concept of changing response after acknowledging a change.

  7. AnOverview • Personalization is the concept of tailoring the technology according to our need • Context aware devices can recognize us and our situational context

  8. AnOverview • Anticipatory intelligence means they can anticipate our desire without any conscious mediation

  9. InShort “.... Is a vision of our future with disappearing hardware”

  10. AmbientIntelligence-Vision Ambient Intelligence envisions a world where people are “surrounded by intelligent and intuitive interfaces embedded in the everyday objects & physical environments around them” These interfaces recognize and respondto the presence and behaviors of an individual in a personalized and relevant way.

  11. Vision(continued) • Ambient Intelligence Technology is: • “Invisible”: • Use/functions are immediately apparent • “Ubiquitous”: • Available anywhere, integrated in physical environment & objects around us • “Intelligent”: • Relevant to user & context-aware • Unobtrusive • Providing meaning (vs. knowledge vs. information)

  12. Vision(continued) • Radically rethink the human-computer interactive experience: • Integrate digital world (information & services) and physical world (physical objects/environment) • Make interfaces more responsive and proactive (objects & environment monitor user and (proactively) present information & services relevant to user’s current needs/interests)

  13. Goal • Designing and realizing environment that enrich the user experience and help households in their activity • Integrating existing devices and existing home- and building- automation system • Really building a (simple) working AML system in a multi-disciplinary team

  14. KeyTechnologies Ambient intelligence is based on three key technologies • Ubiquitous Computing • Ubiquitous communication • Intelligent User interfaces

  15. Technologies A variety of technologies can be used to enable Ambient intelligence environments • Bluetooth • RFID • Sensors • Software agents • Affective computing(Facial affect,Emotion classification,Body gesture) • Nanotechnology • Biometrics

  16. Application • Automotive Intelligence • Tele Diagnosis • Safety – auto braking for active collision avoidance • Route Planning

  17. Application Smart Home Personalize the living space of humans Ease access to Information and Resources On-demand

  18. Application • Hospital room • where a patient is monitored for health and security reasons Sensing and Monitoring • Underground station • equipped with location sensors to track the location of each unit in real-time • Virtual School • where students are monitored on balancing their learning experience

  19. Applications • Office Environment • To track the people who are present in the meeting • To track the location of Stuff.

  20. RoleofUbiquitousComputing “…is a new way of human computer interaction , a post desktop metaphor” “The idea is to imbed and connect” “The goal design & support the ambient intelligence”

  21. TheUbiquitousdevices • Tabs • Pads • Boards • Mobiles • Zapper • Computer

  22. TheSecurityissue “How will systems recognize a friendly face or more important recognize an unfriendly face?” “How will systems ensure consumer privacy will they be at stake”

  23. Drawbacks • Need high finance to install and maintaining the environment. • Technology is to be incorporated into the daily routines of the different class of people. • Makes people lazy.

  24. Conclusion Ambient Intelligence in a Home Environment and organizations are mostly used . The Ambient Intelligence is using money, time savings, security, safety and entertainment reduce stress leading to an overall higher quality of life However, the ability to prepare or complete more and more everyday tasks such as shopping or banking at home, potentially leads to reduced
