  2. The Native, the Invasive & the Amazingly Creative 2008 – 2009

  3. Project Goals Students will identify a minimum of 5 native and 5 invasive plants species that are common in Florida. Students will know the problems associated with invasive plant species. Students will communicate their knowledge about Flagler County’s invasive and native plants to stakeholders in their community. Students will take appropriate actions in their community to limit the growth of an invasive plant species while promoting the use of Florida native plants in local landscapes.

  5. Lights, Camera, ACTION! Generating Active Citizenship Across the Curriculum at ITMS Using Technology 2009-2010

  6. Project Description: In an effort to promote active citizenship while generating awareness for important community issues at Indian Trails Middle School, students will research issues, develop learning-focused lessons and create public service announcements in video format. The public service announcements will be compiled, edited and embellished for student/public viewing during one of two ITMS Film Festivals which will correlate with Red Ribbon Week and Earth Day.

  8. CAMP PREPAREDNESS- Preparing Students for Life’s Personal, Community and Global Challenges with Science-Based Solutions 2010 - 2011

Project Goals: Students will use a variety of sources to gather information about one of the given topics; Disaster Preparedness, Sustainable Living, Animal Compassion, Invasive Species, Pond Ecosystems or Bullying. Students will identify a problem that relates to one of the given topics, design a project that addresses the problem and take meaningful actions to solve the problem. Students will demonstrate knowledge and/or skills that relate to the topic selected. Examples: The student will know the proactive and reactive methods used to keep themselves and others safe in the event of a disaster. The student will compare native and invasive species and understand how an exotic species can impact balance in Florida ecosystems. The student will understand the negative effects of pesticides /fertilizers as they relate to both food and water quality. The student will compare limited and renewable energy resources and take actions to protect our world’s limited resources for future generations. The student will select positive strategies to address bullying issues. Students will evaluate the success of their project.
